Catchin' up

Sorry it has been a while. I updated some things on the blog the other day and I have been trying to get on here to post but sometimes I just run short of time. I was at a class of mine the other day and a little girl came up to me and said "How come your socks don't match?" (No I do not follow the popular fashion of wearing completely mismatched socks-both of my socks had stripes, one had fat black and white stripes and the other one had thin blue and white stripes ) Anyways, I went to answer her and attempt the impossible by trying to explain that I was just really awesome and I was allowed to do so when one of my frenemies (don't you just love new words?!) said "Oh, just excuse her, she's blonde." I rationed that the girl could use a decent explanation and would not accept that oh-so-futile atempt at explaining away my coolness, when......she walked away...no extra explanation needed. A sad day for blondes everywhere when a six year-old recognized the stereotyping that is shoved onto blondes. Bummer. Too bad I'm not the crying type. I'm more of the 'face your problems and deck the people who caused them type'

School at Six

Some funny things Colton has said recently:
When asked what punctuation was,
Colton said "Oh punch-u-a-tion, first you punch 'em and then they 'a-tion' !!"
When I accidentally stepped on his shoe and the heel slid of he said,
"Whoa! hold up-you blew my tire!"
Carson seems to do the same too,
When he spilled juice on himself he said,
"Oh! My sirt all wet now-need new sirt" Or "My shirt is all wet now I need a new shirt"
Looking at books his FAVORITE phrase, which he repeats every 2 seconds is
"Whats dat duy doin?" Or "Whats that guy doing?"

Thinking Out Loud

Don't you just hate it when someone asks you to do something and they press on you the fact that it is important by mentioning it several times and always following each repetition with "Please don't forget" so you make this your priority in your mind until you can do it and as soon as you have a spare moment you say to yourself "Now, what was I supposed to do" and yes the inevitable in this worst case scenario is that you indeed forget...
I was supposed to do something...what was it???

Thinking...or trying to

Woe is me when it is a beautiful summer day and my feet are constricted by socks that are too small and are bound by the harshness, tightness, and discomfort of shoes. A while ago just for fun I took off my sandals and ran home...*sighs deeply at the thought*
I hate wearing shoes in summer and I think tomorrow I will go the store and buy a permit to go shoe-less (hopefully I won't look too under-age)
Just so you know-I am too BLONDE for my own good (and the worlds too)

Wow! It's so summer...

It is 80 degrees and I am dying...well, not really it's actually kinda nice and I hope that it holds out AT LEAST until this weekend! (I really want to go paintballing, it's been raining for the last 3 weeks) I was mowing yesterday and one of my arms got more sun than the other-just think! in about 2 weeks I might even have a tan line where my paracord bracelet sits!!! AWESOMENESS! (I know, that's not really a word-but I'm workin' on it- and 'high-fiveness' and 'bizarity'...don't dis me-Shakespeare made up words too!!!!)

Awesomeness

I want one!!!! No, check that I want two! They are soooo awesomely.....well, awesome! (I might be overusing that word.....oh well)

Berry Picking

So we went berry picking today, and suprisingly it was more eventful than I thought was possible. Kayla and I got completely soaked, I slid down a (slippery) hill twice and I stepped in bear scat! I would be willing to bet that none of you are quite as talented as I am (ohh yeah...I am awesome) Then I came home, put away all of the (now dry) camping gear with dad and sis and worked out (with dad) . I just finished taking an incredibly boring science test and probably should finish my last lesson of Algebra 2 but uh.....maybe later.

Camping!!!

Happy 4th-well, 3rd of July!!! I don't know about you but our weekend has been pretty rainy. But that doesn't mean that we can't have fun. Yesterday we went for a a VERY last minute camping trip-I'm beginning to find that last-minute trips are almost always more exciting than well-planned ones, maybe because you don't have much time to build great expectations, you are just trying to remember everything!
We had a load of fun Friday evening (it wasn't raining -yet) we had hot dogs chips and hung out. We also tried to make our own fishing stuff with soda can tabs, paracord guts and bread for bait. We recently saw Les Stroud try to do this on Survivorman, although I think his cord was quite a bit longer than ours was.
We saw 2 beavers in the pond next to our site and we had doughnuts (courtesy of M1 and Breeze Inn) for breakfast!!! We are all looking forward to the next trip! Happy 4th!

Prayer Request

Urgent Prayer Request
Please be in prayer for Joni Eareckson Tada. This morning she announced they have discovered she has breast cancer. She is scheduled for a mastectomy at 3 PM, Monday, at Los Robles Hospital.
Additionally, please keep her husband, Ken, in prayer. Sometimes it can be emotionally much harder for the spouse, than it is for the person actually enduring it.
People in her ministry tell us she is in great spirits, and believes God is going to use this to give her a new platform for ministering to those struck by cancer.
For more information please visit her website at joniandfriends.org.

Why Are There Evil Weeds?

A few days ago, I attempted the impossible! I decided to plant a (very) small garden in the back yard with my 2 brothers...not so brilliant of me! I started by sending C1. to gather sticks to put aroud the edge of the garden and C2. decided that he would help out by picking up all the earthworms and cutting them in half with my spade. We eventually got to the point of planting the bulbs and C2. wanted to know why we were burying things and felt like he needed to get them out because, just maybe all this heat was getting to us. We finally did the last of the bulbs and after about twenty minutes of repeating "C2., don't step in the garden honey..." C2. says " Is dirty, my hand is dirty...worm is dirty-I get 'im out " we were able to start putting up the stick border so D. wouldn't mow over the flowers.
During all of this I was explaing to C1 that we had to watch out for 'evil weeds' and make sure that they didn't take over our flowers. When we walked away to go eat dinner (and wash up) C1. said, " K2., why did God make evil weeds, I thought He said the earth was good, and evil weeds aren't good." I responded, " Well in the begining it was good, and everything was perfect. Then Adam and Eve disobeyed God by doing something very naughty and God cursed the earth because of it. That is why there are thorns, cactus' and other 'evil weeds'. You know how when we do something bad and M. and D. punish us? Well God loved Adam and Eve and they had to be punishd too, that is wjy there are 'evil weeds'."
This is true but it comes with reassurance. Those that have repented and put thier faith in Jesus to save them from Hell have the assurance of a New Earth. I look forward to the day without and 'evil weeds' and the day when I can glorify my Savior without any blemishes of sin. Do you?

Six Years Old and Politically-Minded

Two days ago Kayla was reading "Encyclopedia of the Presidents" and Colton looked at the front cover and saw President Obama's picture on it. He was under the impression that everyone on the book was dead and he told her "Kayla! Obama is on this book...so that means he's dead!" (By the way he said this in a worried tone) She reassured him that he wasn't dead and he furthered the discussion by saying, "Well, Obama needs to get out of the President. We need somebody good to be President, like Daddy."

Every Time I Go Outside...

Last week we had some (surprisingly) sunny weather, and the boys were on their way outside to go and play. Now, Colton has a chart, and for every day that he does all of his school he puts a sticker on this chart and when he fills up and entire weeks worth, he gets a prize. He is working towards earning the entire "Armour of God"- a suit of armour that is labeled to correspond with the "Armour of God" as listed in the New Testament book of Ephesians. The night before he had received his prize, "The Helmet of Salvation", and he took it outside to play with. Before he went he said, "Mom, every time I go outside I want to put on the armour of God." It reminded me of of the passage of scripture in Ephesians where Paul tells us to put the armour of God on every day, and as Christians we should be 'Going Outside' every day! What I mean by this is that we should be going onto the battlegrounds (the world) and fighting the battle of our Faith by, sharing with non-Christian people the coming Judgement of the entire world. We should be telling them that, even though they think they are 'good people' that if they have stolen one thing they are a thief , that if they've lied one time it makes them a liar, and that if they hate anyone0or even call them a fool in anger that they are in danger of the Judgement-Just like me! I have broken all of the Ten Commandments-God's moral Law and standard that HE set up for us, and I was destined for Hell. The Bible says that Hell is a place of everlasting fire and torment where people are in so much pain that they are grinding their teeth and breaking them. I was destined for this horrible place! When I realized that there was NO WAY that I could save myself, I repented (which is to confess to God what you've done wrong turn away from wrongdoings) and I put all of the faith in me in Jesus Christ to save me from hell. Who is Jesus? you may ask. well, two thousand years ago, Jesus, who is fully God and fully man came to earth to be born as a baby to a poor family. He lived a perfect life and 30-33 years into that life He was put before a judge, a biased jury and convicted of crimes that He never committed. He then willingly went to the Cross where He gave His life for anyone who repents and believes in Him. What happened that day was a legal transaction, Jesus paid my fine-that I couldn't pay because I had sinned and I was allowed to go free. I now serve Him a Soldier, enlisted in the Army of God. God Bless,
KATIE

Carson, wearing some glasses that Colton got @ the Dentist. He was sort of tired...

Updates

Well, it's been a while since the blog has been updated so my mother is allowing me to post some things on here for the three followers that we have... By the way, it's Katie :) School is going well for everyone (except for the fact that we are a little behind) Carson recently had a birthday!!! I can't believe that he's getting so big! Colton will be having a b-day soon too. We were playing an online MadGab game a few minutes ago and Colton figured this out before everyone; "This Knee Wod"...can you figure it it? Read it really fast.

Okay, some quick details about what has happened with us. We had some really spastic weather today...snow. Colton and I went and made a snowman outside but Chaik knocked it over. My mom has started couponing and is saving our family LOTS of money...she may host a class for couponing-how-2 and you can contact her if you want more info. Kayla and I are still taking piano...(and school) and we are kept really busy with everything going on. Our Pastor and his family are moving in early June, they are totally going to be missed.

Yes, I know that this was very scattered but I was trying to scrape the last several months details...I am going to see if I can get some pics up...
